Growing portfolio of CDM projects

Allied Carbon Credit has identified a growing number of potential CDM projects, using its extensive network of equipment suppliers, consultants, technology institutions, industrial companies and industry associations.
At present, the Allied Carbon Credit is implementing projects in the “waste to energy” sector where the company has its most profound experience.

The projects imply the installation of a new Upflow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket (UASB) reactor for the recovery of biogas to improve the waste water treatment at industrial plants. The biogas will be utilized to substitute fossil fuel and generate electricity.

2008-12-05_raw_wastewater.jpgIn the absence of a digestion system waste water is treated anaerobically in open lagoon systems. In Southeast Asia for example it is common practice to have a series of lagoons to degrade the highly organic content of the wastewater. During this procedure anaerobic bacteria generate methane gas in the waste water which emits into the atmosphere.

Especially methane contributes tremendously to global warming and its GWP (global warming potential) is twenty one times higher than the GWP of CO2 that means that the reduction of one tonne of methane is equal to 21 tonnes of CO2.

Therefore methane projects contribute a lot to protect the climate.
