CDM projects are carbon emission reduction projects in developing countries that do not have GHG emission reduction targets under the Kyoto Protocol. The objective of CDM projects is to promote sustainable and environmentally friendly economic development in developing and transition countries.
Carbon credits generated from CDM projects are known as Certified Emission Reductions (or “CERs”). Under the Kyoto Protocol and the EU‐ETS rules, such CERs may be offset to help meet GHG emission reduction targets.
